I don't really know. Something I feel I should do. I would like to travel, but the amount of time I would spend there isn't enough to make up for the amount of time I would spend learning the language. 

There's the occasional business need, where I run into a client and wish I could converse with them in their own language, but that doesn't happen much. 

I guess meeting new people, immersing myself in their culture, and just having the skill are the only reasons I can think of for now. 

for travel and meet new people...make friends

It is the langugae of news and policy. So I do need it if I want to be good at my job.
