The way how People spend time in Train or bus shows the popular way of spending time in your country , I think. Because the time in Train or bus is the time people cannot move freely.
How do people in your country spend their time in Train or Bus?
I am chinese ，The same to upstairs，they usually read the E-book，and listen music，talking with their friends each other，sometimes，They sleep on bus ，Because of the busines work，They need much time to have a rest，I ususlly look out of the windows，I can find so many different people and different things ，you will find much more fun，I also read news paper here ，we can‘t waste any time at this fast time ，HOW do you think
I think in sudan alot of people read something ( quran , newspaper...) and someone watche throgh the windo...
I don't live in a place where there's too many buses and there is no train either.
But the last time I was in Chicago and DC, I was on the subway. I saw a lot of people reading Kindles and iPads. A few we're watching videos on their phones.

Here, people usually listen to music, read books, chat with their friends or simple look out the window. haha My city is not that big so the subway is not so crowded as in Japan.
