Please tell me difference between "embarrass" and "shame".

I don't know how to use. I would be happy if you explain by an example sentence.Smile

Hello,Seb

Japanese usually say "Hazukashii" in both situations. So I'm getting confused.

I would really like to use them correctly. So I should read many examples.

Thank you for your explanation!

Ashamed has the nuance of feeling bad and uncomfortable.

Embarrassed just has the nuance of feeling uncomfortable.

For example, maybe you would feel shy about holding hands with someone in public.

In this situation you are embarrassed. You don't feel bad about holding hands with someone, just uncomfortable, right?

With the cake you knew it was not yours. You ate it anyways,so you feel bad and uncomfortable about it.
