By the way, what do you study or what did you study at first? Were they vocabularies or grammar? Well, I recommend that you study “verb tenses” at first.
I guess a lot of you want to speak Japanese rather than reading or writing in Japanese, but when you start to study the language you'll know that there are so many to learn. Some of you might give up doing it while others manage to study. Well, I won't blame you because that's how the language is. It's not never easy to learn a language. There are tons of vocabularies that you have to remember and grammar as well. However, if you concentrate on memorizing all of the “verb tenses”(There're not many actually) at first, you'll start to speak Japanese. Of course, you have to study vocabulary and grammar after you study those verb tenses, but at least you have a base to form a sentence, I mean, a base to speak the language.
Present Tense ～します ～しません
PresentContinuousTense ～しています ～していません
Past Tense ～しました ～しませんでした
Past continuous Tense ～していました ～していませんでした
Future Tense ～します ～しません
It's not that difficult to remember the said verb tenses (There are only 10),right? but you'll notice how important it is to do so to form a sentence.
Do you know how you say speak in Japanese? Speak means 話（はな）す in Japanese and let's take this as an example.
If it's affirmative you can say 話します or if it's negative, you say 話しません。
Do you speak Japanese? →（私は）（日本語を）話します/話しません
Present Continuous Tense
Are you speaking Japanese?→（私は）（日本語を）話しています/話していません
Did you speak Japanese?→ （私は）（日本語を）話しました/話しませんでした
Past Continuous Tense
Were you speaking Japanese？→（私は）（日本語を）話していました/話していませんでした
Will you speak Japanese?→（私は）（日本語を）話します/話しません
By the way, did you notice that there isn't any difference between Present Tense and future tense? Well, as for future tense, you just have to put an adverb such as “in the future(未来に)”, so it's going to be like （未来に）（私は）（日本語を）話します
I added a new feature to my website. You can study Verb Tenses with my voice. And also I`m working on what I call "Moodle", a place where you can study online.
