Japanese particles may be the most confusing aspect of learning Japanese; truly many of my students seem to have problems with particles. In this article, I will mention the difference between に and で.

Which one do you use for time? Like if you wanted to say "At 9:00 I brush my teeth" or "I went to work at 10:00"?

Oh I didn't know に was an indirect object marker.

Thank you.

Plus, 「東京」 of 東京に住んでいます is a place of existance. Now you are living in Tokyo (focus on where you are in). If it's 東京で働いています, it should be a place of an action. You are working (action) in Tokyo (focus on what you are doing).
