TV killed reading and Internet buried it.

Thanks for your opinion! Way I see it, nowadays people really have less free time than before because we have a lot of other kinds of entertainment, and this entertaiment are displacing reading. But whatever I like reading and I think there is nothing today that can replace it.

Hi everyone. Maybe rhythm of modern life overly fast for many humans... And also we have many sources of information - TV, Internet... Many things.. And we have little time - little Time for life :)

But I think It is maybe wrong. To tell the truth - I like reading books :-)

There are many more distractions nowadays than have been ever before. Not so long ago reading was considered as one of the not so many "passive" entertainments like board games, going to a theatre etc. Now people got television, the internet, computer games and other channels of digital occupations and even if they want read, automatically have less free time than before.

I think its because prior to information being so easily available through the internet, reading was the primary means to introduce yourself to new ideas - to be able to form an opinion on any given topic. These days it is very easy to pass of others' opinion/distilled thoughts as your own and it can make you seem smarter. You get the benefit of people thinking you're smart without making any effort. The more advanced the topic the more reluctant people are to call you out.
