What do you think about people who don't come here for learning languages?

I know, this as a social network, it's about knowing to eachother, our cultures and blah, blah, stuff; as we practice sharing our languages. And I'm not denied to the possibility of making some friends while learning. But really, I think if you're here to socialize more than to learn languages, you are in the wrong place. I mean, you're free to do whatever you want, but this place is known for language exchange and most of us come here for that and contacting people with these wrong ideas could make someone waste their time and sometimes even, feel offended.

You can find a husband or wife even in a library. It doesn't mean that I come here to find a girlfriend, but if you actually find someone with whom you feel really comfortable speaking, then there is no problem if one day you decide to go to the beach together, and it doesn't mean that any of you is going to stop learning languages at all.

Over the years, I have encountered a spectrum of different types of individuals on italki.  Those who are here to socialize are in the majority.  I have encountered some with religious agendas and some with projects to fund.  Others are looking for international dating relationships.

Most of us are here to meet others who share our common interest in languages.  I am here to correct the grammar errors popularized by Hollywood movies and those taught by poorly written textbooks.
