How do Americans think of Nirvana and Eminem?

Please give me your own opinions about them no matter you like them or not. Thanks

I'm not a fan of them either. Nirvana led the way in a genre that, with the exception of a few bands like pearl jam, soundgarden, and stone temple pilots, basically sucks in my opinion. Similar things could also be said about Eminem. Unfortunately, the best music from the US is generally relatively obscure.

In my opinion, they both pretty much suck. I roll my eyes at the young crowd when they wear Nirvana shirts because they didn't even live through the era and Kurt has been dead for so long now. Not to sound unsympathtic. The only Nirvana song I ever liked was Teen Spirit and I can still vividly remember the music video from when I was im middle school. It aired on MTV back then when MTV was good.  In my opinion Eminem is another joke although his rap is somewhat more tolerable than others. Like Matt said, in my opinion, they weren't the best band from the 90's and honestly if anyone remembers either of them 20+ years from now, I am sure it will only be as a footnote in music history. hahaha :)

I think Nirvana has written some good songs, but don't really see why they are as popular as they actually are. I don't really think Kurt Cobian is a very impressive guitar player as some people do. They get credited for starting the American "grunge" era in the early 1990's, but there was a whole movement of "underground" that took place in Seattle, WA that contributed to the popularity of grunge. That being said, I still like some of their songs, they're a good band. But I wouldn't agree with saying they were the best band of the 90's.

I'm not a big rap fan, but Eminem is one of the few rappers that I like. In my teens, I played 8 Mile on the repeat setting for hours!
