How do you stay motivated to learn a new language?

If you don't need to use a foreign language in your daily life, it can sometimes be difficult to keep pushing yourself harder. This is often the case for English speakers in the US, who may never need a foreign language to get by in work or travel.

How do you keep motivated after you've studied for awhile, but you know that you will need to study much longer or harder to become fluent?

All of the other comments are perfectly valid.... that being said... I'm not sure they answer your question.  IMHO, to stay motivated, you should do activities that you love,  not just like,  in your target language.

examples follow, but are not limited to:

listening to music/podcasts in your target language.

watching subtitled videos/FILMS/programs in your target language over and over.

The KEY is that you find something you LOVE.

it might be for English is the most popular language in the world. U can hear it nearly everywhere u turn.  I like learning diffenrent languages because I love them. They can let me know new things, open a new world to me, which seems to me that I can live more than once. And I'm fond of different cultures.

Learning a language might be the mental and physical torture for quite long time, but as one of my friend said, I'd like to make my brain functioning for I like challenges. And I wanna be an interested girl, so I'll be persistent to what I've chosen.
