Thank you for the responses. Before posting the question here, I did some research on some websites and unfortunately still could not answer my question. From information I got on the internet, Han Chinese are in the majority, making up 95% of population (just like what xarmania said). I also found that besides Han Chinese, Mongolians and Russians, there are also 20 ethnic groups inhabiting the city. Stores and buildings in downtown are named with Russian and Chinese words. 

I still wonder if they speak (some) English other than their native languages? 

(In several countries, for example Indonesia, some people surprisingly speak fluent English even though English is not their official language.)
