Thinking Thursday (Discussion)

Please participate in the discussion by putting your answer to the following question in the comments below.
Is it worse to fail at something or never attempt it in the first place?

For example:
My perspective is that, in the majority of circumstances, it is much better to not succeed at something than not try at all. My first reason for this is without trying something there is no way to succeed either. Second, great learning can come from failure, which can also illuminate a different path to success. Finally, from failure we can learn valuable character traits, such as humility, perseverance and self-awareness.

However, this only applies if the things you are risking are your own and not other people’s and one should know when to quit. To conclude I would like to quote Robert the Bruce; ‘If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again’.

To my point of view, in most of cases, I prefer not to succeed at something than not try at all. In the first place, it is impossible to achieve any goals without trying; there is no way to obtain things we want without taking the first step. Secondly, failures can teach us many valuable traits, such as patience, perseverance, responsibility, having faith, etc. A lot of times, it is those valuable traits lead us to real success.
However, before we take the first step to try, we should think it over seeing whether we could afford the failure.
