Portuguese 4th language more spoken

Hello, everything ok?

Do you know Portuguese is the 4th language more spoken in the world?

The Portuguese is currently the fourth most spoken language in the world, according to data presented at the exhibition "Economic Potential of the Portuguese Language" on display at the European Parliament.

This exhibition, the Camões - Institute for Cooperation and Language and a team of researchers at ISCTE / IUL - Lisbon University Institute's mission is to design and monetize the market value of the Portuguese language through the European Parliament in Brussels.

The exhibition, which takes into account the contents of the study by researchers at ISCTE, coordinated by Luis Reto is patent 18-21 of February.

The Portuguese reached their full linguistic identity at the beginning of the discoveries in the fifteenth century, and today is used by over 250 million people as an official language.

This universe of speakers is more than 7% of the land surface of the Earth. There are eight Portuguese-speaking countries, Portugal, Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Sao Tome and Principe and Timor-Leste, all countries "planted by the sea" and represent 4% of the wealth world.

Everything indicates that in 2050, over 100 million people will join the number of speakers of Portuguese. 350 million will keep the Portuguese language at the top of world languages, the third most spoken language in Europe, after English and Spanish.

The Portuguese is still a language that has one of the highest rates of growth in social networking and learning as a foreign language.

So don't lose time and start right now learning portuguese :)

It depends whether you count second language speakers, foreign language speakers and what not. Every language organization inflates their numbers, by the way.

It's not the number if speakers but the influence they have. :)

I believe that it is actually the sixth most spoken language in the world.  But that still makes it a lot more important than most people realise.  And when I say 'most people,' I mean especially native speakers of Portuguese.  Native speakers of this language always seem surprised (and pleased!) when I tell them that I am learning their language.  You can tell, from the expressions on their faces, that they do not understand why people would want to learn Portuguese..
