Let's talk about ambient! Anyone?

Yes, I am talking about the music genre ambient. I am curious if you like it and if you do, you should mention some name for me (us). You know, I was usually listening rock and this ambient thing started with Robert Fripp from King Crimson. Frippertronics! Do you know that? After some time I found the genre ambient and it still holds me in its hands... Share your story!

Okay, Fennesz is awesome! Endless Summer has some very nice glitchy stuffs, I like it. I still have to check out Mark McGuire. Bye the way, don't misunderstand me I'm not stuck on guitar stuffs. I like pure electronical stuffs too, like Biosphere is one of my old favorite, or I could mention Loscil or even Autechre. You must like minimalist contemporary classicals too, like Steve Reich or Philip Glass. How about them?

I usually use www.tinymixtapes.com for reviews of new stuff. Most of it is very experimental or just your run of the mill indie stuff, but there can be cool stuff there nonetheless. A good thing to do is look for an artist you want more of on www.last.fm, and look at the similar artists section. That's how I found Tatsuhiko Asano. I can PM you the full Spacewatch album if you want.

How about Fennesz? He is the distinctive figure in ambient scene, and his latest album was out latst month, which features guitar sound a lot, so maybe you like it.

Also, Mark McGuire is popular. Fennesz is electronic musician, and on the other hand, Mark McGuire is a guitarist. Most of his works consist of improvisation. Btw, I like his old stuff, but not recent ones. Sadly to say, he's got hyped out.

Hey Ed!

The spacewatch album sounds good so far, I hope I can get the whole album somewhere. Where do you usually search for new artists? Is there a website you visit often?

Yes, I love ambient! I recently discovered a fairly unknown Japanese artist called Tatsuhiko Asano, who makes ambient-type music. It's very relaxing, but probably quite a bit different of Robert Fripp and King Crimson. Here's a few of his tracks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNAt33KxfNc, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cb43awLp0Hg. I hope you enjoy it.

Good English, by the way.
