My favourite Italian writers are Italo Calvino, Luigi Pirandello and Umberto Eco (they are very famous among those of the 20th century).

The most famous Italian writers are undoubtedly Dante Alighieri and Alessandro Manzoni.

I think Tolstoy , Chekhov , Dostoesky and Bulgakov are the most famous Russian writers for people  around the world.
