How you learn phrasal verbs?

I've been studying phrasal verbs, but I feel that I'm not actually learning, so I'm looking forward to some hints about how to study them.

I agree with Paul - context is really important when trying to learn phrasal verbs.  Also, I agree that phrasal verbs are more commonly used in speech, so be sure that you are getting regular conversation practice.

I am a professional English teacher here on italki and I offer Conversation Practice sessions.  I usually work with my students to decide specific topics for conversation and suggest some resources.  From there, you can learn and practice phrasal verbs related to specific subjects (contexts).  Feel free to sent me a message if you have any questions.

Phrasal verbs are used more often in informal and spoken English than in formal and written English.

So try to listen to as much spoken English on youtube, on television and in movies as possible!

Also don't get too disheartened, it is impossible to learn every phrasal verb which exists in the language; try to guess the meaning from the context (from what the rest of the sentence is saying).

The best way of learning phrasal verbs is to go through the news everdy , note down the phrasal verb used and find there meaning online , while doing this you will get more other phrases also with same base word .
