Thailand is a country, not a city, and I can tell you from personal experience that it is a fantastic place. As for recommendations, it depends what you are looking for: a beach holiday, trekking in the jungle, relaxation in a spa with thai massage, amazing food, city life, simple villages. It's all there.

And no I don't work for the Thai tourist board, but I have visited many times and love it!
