I am trying to learn the passive voice verbs. I understand the types that are conjugated like this:

 συκών/

          ομαι

          εσαι

          εται

          όμαστε

          εστε ( όσαστε)

          ονται

But why am I also finding examples like τσαώνουντ?  This ending is not on my previous example because it is ουντ instead of ονται.

Is there another type of conjugation that I am not aware of?

Thanks

Hello,

Not sure about where you've found τσαώνουντ, but there definitely is a group of verbs that take -ουνται instead of -ονται.

συκώνω is from the group of verbs where the stress is earlier in the world. Verbs with the final stress, such as αγαπώ/αγαπάω and θεωρώ are other groups of verbs and form the passive differently:

αγαπάω/αγαπώ:

αγαπιέμαι

αγαπιέσαι

αγαπιέται

αγαπιόμαστε

αγαπιέστε

αγαπιούνται

θεωρώ:

θεωρούμαι

θεωρείσαι

θεωρείται

θεωρούμαστε

θεωρείστε

θεωρούνται

I hope this helped, let me know if you're still wondering something :)

Hello Marilane,

It is best to study from a textbook that has specially written sections for these verbs, and includes exercises. This will help organize the different categories in your mind, as well as get practice with them in real life sentences, which is the most important thing in order to properly conceptualize the meanings in your mind...this is not something you should learn casually as there are *many* different categories of verbs that are slightly different from one another, and then they have exceptions in certain forms. I would recommend the textbooks "Επικοινωνήστε Ελληνικά" (Communicate in Greek) levels 2 and 3.

I wish you good progress.
