Painting is silent poetry, and poetry is painting with the gift of speech

Painting is silent poetry, and poetry is painting with the gift of speech, Simonides of Ceos (c. 556 BC – 469 BC)

Why painting is silent poetry and poetry is painting that speaks?

That quote is beautiful! The quote itself is the answer to your question. It's all about feelings and emotions. Paintings give rise to feelings and emotions through colors. Poetry uses words. Those words are colors of paintings you see in your mind.
