Marco Vinicio
What's your strategy in a face-to-face or Skype conversation?

I'd like to know, from your experiences, what is the best way to carry out a Skype or face-to-face conversation. How do you set up the session? What do you talk about? I'm going to start my first hour of conversation and I'd like some advices from you. Thanks!

Hi Marco,

I've learned from experiance that its a good idea to find out a few things about the student at the beginning of the session eg. How long are you studying English? What do you hope to achieve? Where do you feel you need help?

This allows me to tailor the lesson to the students needs and also can be a nice casual introduction. From there it really depends on what we decide to do...sometimes discuss sports, news, travel...analyze a picture, revise grammar, work on pronunciation...there are lots of possibilities :-)

Thanks Laura. Yes, I agree with you, a good idea is to find out the characteristics of your friend so as to reach a good match
