Where do I begin learning German?

I've been searching around and I am not certain as to how I can go about this process. I'm trying to learn both Japanese and German at my own pace. Should I begin learning German via a book such as "German for Dummies" or videos? Online websites perhaps? Moreover, what should I try doing here on italki for the same?

Hi! I am also trying to learn German by myself. I'm learning based on the textbook "neue horizonte": To me it is good with English explanation. However, you can try either "Deutsch heute" or "Wie geht's". To me they look similar in structure, so I don't know which one is best. I'm learning writing, vocabulary, grammar, listening from the aforementioned book. One thing I need to do with my German friend is ask him to check my pronunciation and practise talking to him. I think it is quite important to have a native speaker to help you.

@Mr.Phong Tran and Mr.Eslam: Thank you, I've gone through the same and have found a possible starting point.
