Phrasal Verbs: Fill

While phrasal verbs with the verb 'to fill' share the same essential meaning, they are used in different contexts. I made a video explaining the four most common phrasal verbs with examples:

Are the meanings clear? Would you like to try to make your own sentences with the phrasal verbs? You can post your sentences here and I will check them out. :)

@Ivery: The meanings of your four sentences are clear. I have a few notes about grammar that I will send to you as a message.

I do want to mention that while you could use 'fill in' in the context of your wallet, but it would be better to specify that you are talking abou the 'spaces' or 'pockets' within your wallet:

The pockets in my wallet are filled in with different bills and various cards.

The spaces in my wallet are filled in with different bills and various cards.

I italicised 'in' in these sentences because it can be omitted and the meaning is still clear:

The pockets in my wallet are filled with different bills and various cards.
The spaces in my wallet are filled with different bills and various cards.

First, let me clarify that in American English, 'fill out' is used when talking about applications, forms, and other documents that require you to provide information.

'Fill in' is used when talking about a particular 'gap', 'space', 'blank', or 'void'. For example, think of a child's coloring book. The coloring book provides the outline of shapes and figures and children should fill in these empty shapes with the colors they like.
