Tell me about your experience on italki?

The main negative experiences from this site are on the technical side. Messages can get stuck and not be sent for a week or more. This seems to happen mainly when there is a URL link or email address, but I'm not sure exactly. The other one (which is why I have made new profiles) is that you can't delete discussions - if the discussion no longer applies, people just read the first message and then jump to the end ignoring any attempt to inform them of any new developments. Also, when discussions are removed by italki (which happens a lot. You can check by changing the URL) the person who posted it isn't informed unless they log out and look.

Welcome to the site, Justina. :)

I have used this site for maybe a year or two in all (despite what it says on my profile as I will explain later). I haven't used this site for paid lessons, only to find language partners. I've mainly just used this site to find people or let them find me and then used Skype instead. In all, I've probably had 500-1000 people try to add me on Skype from this (especially when I had my Skype username public) so it has been useful - I guess that's partly down to being a native English speaker learning the language of the country with the largest internet population.

As a result of this and in part the notebook entries (which I don't do too much as I have a better method for me on Skype), my language skills have improved, but would they have anyway?

I think the site is useful with the notebook entries and answer section. There are definitely people who help a lot but there are also some less helpful corrections/answers which don't get picked up due to people not wanting to criticise someone who's tried to help and also the rating system which makes little sense (who thumbs up? people who think it's helpful even though it might be wrong or native speakers saying it's correct?)

I like the discussions, although it would be nice if not so many got removed by italki. It's sometimes hard to follow them without checking manually. It would be nice to have notifications (a "follow discussion" button), it clear to see (like on forums) when there's an unread message and also a way to link to people directly so they know they are being talked to.

Have you improved your language skills and now you feel certain when you talk with other person? Do you prefer learning with profesional teacher or with your partner language? How long have you used this website? :)

My experience with Italki is good I think it's

good website for language learner. I read  entries carefully that corrected by native speaker. In this way I am improvising my English.
