Christmas is coming!
But most people in our hometown isn't celebrate Christmas, what a pity!
Christmas means what in your hometown?
What are you doing when you celebrate Christmas?
How is the tradition there?
We don't celebrate Christmas because it is religious event and in our religion we don't celebrate it but some people start to celebrate for having fun with others
Christmas lands in our Australian summer, so even though we have all the "winter" ornaments (and are very aware of the irony!) our Christmas celebration is usually a family gathering on the 25th of December, for a barbecue lunch.
Apart from the barbecue, it's too hot for roasts so the ham and chicken is usually served cold with salads. Prawns are also popular. If possible, we might even have the barbecue at the beach - though many other people tend to have the same idea!
Presents are opened in the morning (with someone usually dressing up as Santa), and the afternoon is just spent relaxing and perhaps watching the usual Christmas specials on TV.
Many people celebrate Christmas in my hometown (Iowa City, IA, USA). To me it is a holiday about getting together with family and giving gifts. We usually eat special foods too like smoked salmon, bagels, roast chicken, etc...
