I am reading the catcher in the rye, but a sentences I dont understand as below

Like as if all you ever did at pencey was play polo all the time.

Questions

1. What are the different meaning between if all you and if you?

2. Why the sentence use was play polo? What is that meaning? Not was playing polo? Or was played polo??

What’s meaning in “was play polo”??

My meaning is “was play polo” what tense?

“was playing polo” > past continous tense

“ was played polo” > passvoice

“ was play polo” > what tense???? Or meaning?

#  "wanna" is not an English word

#   the "all" in "if all you ..."  means "everything"

# "Pency" has a capital letter

# "Polo" is a game. Men on horses chase a ball with wooden hammers and try to score goals. It is for rich people only.

Good luck ;-)
