”如此“和“如此之”的区别是什么?

Their meaning is usually the same in general context, meaning "such...." or "so....", 

這地方是如此美麗 = 這是一個如此美麗的地方

This is such a beautiful place.

 

Their difference is subtle, not rigid,  mainly on how you give your passage a more fluent flow or feel, sometimes it's more appropriate to add "之" , for example in 你對我的傷害是如此之深 which emphasis on how deep "is" the hurt you have made to me。。。

But in general, not much difference in the meaning.

如此 usually ues in this way    subject +如此+adj.(at lest two characters), one character adj. here sounds strange.

for example: 你如此美丽。

                 这些花如此漂亮。

                 空气如此清新。

                                      verb+得+如此+complement.

 for example:他玩儿得如此高兴。

                 她长得如此漂亮。

                 他篮球打得如此好。

 

如此之  if we use 如此之,usually appear with "以致于“ together, to express the result or extend.

for example: 我对她的感情如此之深,(以致于)我愿意为她做任何事情。

                 空气如此之差,(以致于)人们出门都不得不戴上口罩。
