Has learning a new tongue given you a different persective or changed the way you live life? Has it opened your eyes in anyway about any subject? Please explain!
Thank you for such an amazing question! I've been thinking about it for quite a while as, you know, language learning is an indispensable part of my life; I do it on a regular basis and I'm going to link my future with it. So I find this question essential to answer. Overall, language learning is shaping my personality. It's a constant inward development, because it helps me go deep into learning things about myself like revealing personal problems that hold back my progress. As for me, it's a manner of living because it changes you, it changes your attitude to a number of things...even to yourself. Importantly enough, it opens up new horizons and indeed I became more sociable thanks to language learning. It fuels my curiousity about people and the world itself. I deeply love learning languages and things and people that I discover along the way :)
Yes! Since I started learning Spanish, I started to absorb latic culture and spanish culture and I learned a lot of things if it. I recognized the differences between my culture, which is Thai, to their culture and it made my learning process more interesting and fun. I've made a lot of new friends, mostly penpals, though learning languages. Recently, I just started learning Italiand and Dutch and I really want to discover more about people and culture. I also have a motivation to visit Spanish speaking countries, italian and dutch speaking countries to try out my new skill and to make more friends. Learn languages allowed me to discover a lot of new things which I value.
Learning English taught me that it doesn't matter how rubish you are at something, because you can do it if you put in your time and effort. It also made me open my eyes to the beautiful and complex world around us. :)
Now that I'm learning French, I started to detach a little from the school barrier and its way of teaching languages. Until now, French seemed to be a unattractive language for me, simply because of the image my classmates and I made out of it. The way we learn it at school makes it so boring, while listening to real French and talking to actual French native speakers makes it so fun and exciting to learn.
