well other great university is Unicamp, also in São Paulo.. but almost every public university is pretty good... there is also UFMG in Minas Gerais state and UFRJ in Rio de Janeiro state

Well, here in Brasil, USP is a very renowned college, we have good teachers and I just love it. People here are pretty helpful and kind... Food here is not very cheap. I mean, if you go to restaurants to have lunch you will pay expensives prices, but if you eat at home it is better to save money. Other option is to have lunch at college, where we pay almost nothing to eat, if you go to public's colleges for your Ph.D. With people's help you will easily survive here, don't worry, besides Brasil is a beautiful place so you can visit a lot of great places. thank you for your valuable information. I want to study Language and Literature. In fact, after master's degree I am planning to stay there for Ph.D .. That's why country/city is so important for me. During this process I don't want to have any problem. what were the advantages of your city/university? it is cheap, people are helpful, it is easy to survive there or not etc. ;) these are also very important for me.
