Agatha Christie (notice the spelling of her first name) is famous and well-loved in the English speaking world.

Her play, The Mousetrap, is unquestionably the longest-running play in history in any language. It opened in 1952 and has been running continuously since then, having had over 25,000 performances.

Many English-speaking people are fond of mysteries, and there are many wonderful mystery writers in English. I am personally very fond of Elizabeth George, and my wife and I are eagerly awaiting her next Inspector Lynley book, A Banquet of Consequences.

They are not strictly speaking "mysteries," but rather "thrillers" or "crime novels," but I am also very fond of John D. Macdonald's series featuring the... detective-like character Travis McGee.
