What is tolerance to you?

I wanted to know what your opinion on tolerance is:

What it your personal limit - where does tolerance stops for you? (for me for example it stops at things like abuse, killing, lack of respect towards older people/people who had to experience really bad things/handicapped persons, harrassing other people,.....)

What do you associate with this word? What is tolerance for you?  (In my opinion it's to countenance something - I don't know if the word "countenance" is the right one to describe it, because I don't really know the english word for it so I just typed it in an online translator. I german i would say: to "dulden" something.....)

Where should "we" be more tolerant? (I think in topics like the religion/origin/gender/sexuality from other people,...)

Looking forward to your reply/replies! :)

I think tolerance is respecting other people's values and nor forcing your own lifestyle on them just because you think you're right. Trying to limit other people's choices is not tolerance. Neither is saying mean things about other people. Tolerance shouldn't include things that hurt other people.

I think all countries have still a long way to go when it comes to tolerance of any kind. I have never heard of a country that had no problems with minorities, be it based on religion, ethnicity, sexuality or gender. Often people are not so willing to change their opinions but I've noticed that young people are more open to change, and I am sure it's at least partly thanks to the Internet.

I believe that each type of violence is not acceptable, but in any society, and above all the social group will otherwise received. Standard and tolerance in the society and the environment determines the group in which we find ourselves.
