How committed are you?

We all know that to learn a new language and to learn it well we have to dedicate more than a couple of minutes per week.

How much of your time and attention do you invest in the language you are learning?

Would you recommend this amount of time for anyone who wants to learn a new language?

i tend to operate intuitively. no set time. that never worked for me. inner clock, inner guidance, motivation, strong focus (which often means studying at a slower pace than a lot of people) and self-discipline do the job and have done it quite well so far.

i'd say it's not just how long, it's also how deep. :)

I probably average an hour a day of spanish conversation not including other ways that I try to expose myself to it. I dabbled with Portuguese briefly as well, but have decided to wait another year or two in order to perfect my spanish first. I still plan to return to it later though. Ideally I can certify my Spanish and then develop a natural way to keep interacting with the language with mininal effort before starting up Portuguese again.
