Wow,first heard about the Valentine's day in western counties,meaning,not only love,there's friendship and love.In China,Valentine's day holiday only unmarried couples.Old people and children are however.Married couples rarely ever.

As children, we would regularly observe the holiday in school by making cards and exchanging candy with every other classmate, so no child would feel left out. As teenagers, it was common to only give a gift to someone very close and/or a loved one. The most popular gifts were roses, chocolates, or teddybears. I am embarrassed to admit that as a young adult (if I was single and without a romantic partner) it was very upsetting. My female friends and I would pretend that we didn’t like flowers or chocolate and say that we, “hated the holiday!”  However, now that I am older, I love the holiday! For me, it is just a time to tell anyone (friends/family/co-workers) that you love and care about them. You do not have to buy anything special or expensive and you don’t have to have be in relationship to celebrate. It is always fun to eat the candy.
