Some books are incredibly worth reading. All the time when you finish one of them, you will find at least one more books added on you reading list. That's what draws me crazy now. My boss also wants me to read a lot of academic books, but I was a bit addicted into history recently, maybe because I didn't do well in schools ( and I barely listened to teachers) . Anyway, now history is interesting. Wang Yangming becomes my hero now, anyone knows him? the biggest boss in dynasty of Ming. Hahaha!
I am hoping to find some reading friends to encourage each other, we can wrote to each other what we think about the readings in a regular time, for example, monthly, weekly or even daily (Any books in either Mandarin or English are welcome). Of course, if you could occasionally remind me about academic books from my boss (just gently remind me such as 'hey how are your academic books?' since I always forgot), it would be most thankful.
Here is part of my academic reading list:
1. The continuity and change in the American family
3. Analysing China's population
Some of those beyond academics are:
1. Poor economics, Before I go to sleep, the great gatsby... ...
2. 王阳明全集，平凡的世界-路遥，活着-余华，蛙-莫言，秦腔、浮躁-贾平凹，陆犯焉识... ...
If you are holding a book in your hand right now, I would love to be your partner and let's accomplish it together. Do feel free to contact me on Skype anytime: kianfung pui, Or simply follow me on italki.
Looking forward to meeting you!
Welcome to the era of reading!
I love to read, but it is expensive to order books from Amazon. Well the book is not expensive but the shipping is. In order to buy books, the shipping overseas to Israel sometimes costs as much as the book! That is why I download public domain books from Kindle and other e-book platforms. I am reading this short story right now and I had to share it: https://medium.com/@spectre_7/they-re-harvesting-stars-you-know-476794c231ae
They are harvesting Stars, You know? by Chris Randolf.
Have fun it is a short short. I won't tell the ending!
The readings in History can be forever exciting and prove to be a lifelong interest for you.
Your search for
"1. The continuity and change in the American family
3. Analysing China's population"
....should also be very productive for you.
I would share ome interest in the American Family and China also.
I will try to think upon relevant reading material in these areas.
Oh, reading academic books could be really boring... (thanks for God I graduated university several years ago) As for me, I'd like to read classical literature if only I had enough time for it ( but one day I'll do it))
Thanks a lot, guys. This post always works. Welcome to share with me anytime!
