Hi all,
I would love if you could give me some words or phrases in Spanish that you can say while you are thinking. The equivalents of "so...." "well..." "hmmm..." "Well, you know...." in English. My speaking is quite slow and I would find them very helpful to give me time to think. Also, do they differ much between Spanish speaking countries?
Thanks in advance!
Mike
Some of these below are more stalling phrases than filler words ("muletillas" in Spanish by the way), but
a ver- let's see
bueno- often used like pues. It depends on the context
digamos- used like "..., say, ..."
dejame pensar- if you want to ask for a minute to think
así que- "so" (it can buy you a few seconds while you think)
ahora que lo pienso/pensándolo bien- now that I think of it, on second thought
sea lo que sea- be that as it may
Those were the first ones that I thought of off the top of my head. I may add some more later.
Bueno.... (Bue...)
Entonces.... ¿Y entonces?
Más bien....
Mirá....
Lamnetablemente.... ( para algo en negativo)
Uruguay
I just the other day heard the word "nombre" used like "bueno"/"pues" by a Chilango (someone from Mexico City). Can any other native spanish speakers here tell me if they too use the word like this?
Un momento por favor. A moment please.
En mi opinión ... ( according to my point of view..)
