Great article, Hamish! When I record myself speaking a foreign language, I always feel frustrated. But I usually think of 2 positive sides: 1) is that I tend to speak better with a listener and 2) is that we do have the same problems speaking our native language (obviously not to the same extent, but still).

Anyway, recording one's own speaking is a great way to control one's weak points and notice good use of grammar and vocabulary, too.

I wish I could share this like on FB... :)  I'd love for all my students to read this, and then keep these questions handy. 

i did'nt completley read your article but in the future id suggest that you suggest that anyone somewhat fluent should read english novels, seeing as how this was how i developed faster than most students.
