Hello Kamil, that is good that you watch English videos to improve your English.  Reading articles and listening to BBC and the Today's news is fantastic.  I would suggest that you discuss what you have read and/or listened to with another English speaking person.  This will reinforce what you are learning and what you are able to use in English speaking correctly.

Zhoodar, thank you so much for commenting on the post.  Continue to I listen to podcasts and you will be amazed at how quickly your communication skills improve if you are dedicated.  I would also suggest that you find a recording device and speak into the recorder summarizing what you read and heard.  Listen and determine how close your voice resembles the speaker.  Dr. Priscilla

That is a great idea Karma.  Also, thank you for responding.  One important thing about responding to something you watch is an opportunity for the creator of the movie to respond back to you.  Even if the person does not respond, you have created an opportunity to say something in your mind in English that you wish the recipient to know.  My tip for you is to write more about what you have watched in English.  If you enjoyed watching, take the time to practice writing in English a few things that you specifically enjoyed.  Thanks for your post to my discussion.  Dr. Priscilla

Thank you for you post Moacir.  Your response to speaking with others sometimes with hesitancy or fear is not uncommon.  What would be uncommon is that you were completely comfortable.  As you continue to learn and grow the uncomfortable feeling will become minimal.

I remember when I started participating in speaking contests I was very nervous.  I wanted to participate in the contests so I continue to show up and practice.  Sometime later, much later, I was able to compete in speaking contests.  I won some and I lost many more.  The main take away is that I persisted in something I wanted to become accomplished in.  So today, I am very comfortable in my role of public speaking.

There are of course topics that are difficult for me but I enjoy the knowledge that with each opportunity I get to speak, I become better at speaking in public.

Continue speaking and building friendships on skype.  In my humble opinion, your friends will enjoy talking with you as long as it does not seem like work.  Just enjoy the moment and the lasting friendships while learning you are creating.

I enjoyed reading your post.

Hello Dr. Priscilla, How are you ? . I’m a housewife and a mother of one baby and so the best ways to fix my English skills is the internet by watching films , listening to songs and sometimes talking to the native speakers . My problem is that I often I can’t understand what I listen from my parenters or songs .
