When I was a child, Christmas was the most magical period of the year, as it’s for almost every kid in the world, I assume... Our celebration started with a family dinner on Christmas Eve. Every single year my family and I would go to one of my uncle’s house and our families would eat the exact same meal: toast with butter and smoked salmon as appetiser, semolina gnocchi, lots of mandarins and nuts and of course Italian wine for the adults and coke for the children! Later, as Christians, we would go to the Church for the midnight Mass and after that we used to go to my grandma’s house to drink hot chocolate, eat panettone and, of course, open our presents... I should say that my grandma had 10 children (I won’t say how many grandchildren): you can only imagine how many packets and boxes and destroyed gift wrap and toys and sweaters and perfumes and books and video-games and God only knows what else there was in her living room! We were so happy!!! When the mix of sparkling wine and sleepiness reached its goal, everyone would leave for his own house! At any rate we would have seen each other in a few hours for lunch... I’ll tell you how we usually spent Christmas day another time! Thanks for the patience and please correct not only the grammar but also the style! Thanks a lot!

Your English is obviously advanced, you hardly need correction. "It's" does mean "it is," but in this case you would say "it is" because the emphasis is on "is."
