You are bored in your current job but you enjoy working for your company. You think you would be happier if you moved to a different department in the same company. Write a letter to your employer. In the letter -ask to be moved to a position in another department -explain how you feel about your current position and your career -say why you think changing your job would be good for you and the company You should write at least 150 words. You do NOT need to write any addresses. Begin your letter as follows: Dear ………………… _________________________________ Dear Mr. Haas, As you know, I am currently working as a product manager for our company. I am writing this letter to request you about moving to another department. My current position has become less interesting for me because I have already known everything about this type of work and I do not find this position perspective anymore. Certainly I appreciate the opportunity to work with my colleagues and I am really happy to be a part of such renowned company as Big Brother. I suppose that if I were a part of company as a sales manager, it would be many more useful for both me and business. First of all, last month I complicated a course in negotiations at Highline College, which helped me to improve my communicative skills. Second of all, I have been working as a product manager for the past 12 years and I could promote our merchandise because absolutely all advantages are known to me. This transition may encourage my involvement in business process and increase income of the company through sales boost. I hope you will agree to contribute. Yours sincerely, Kseniia T.

Begin your letter as follows: Dear ………………… _________________________________ Dear Mr. Haas, As you know, I am currently working as a product manager for our company. I am writing this letter to ask (1) you about moving to another department. My current position has become less interesting for me because I know the job inside out (4) and I do not find this position exciting or challenging anymore. Certainly I appreciate the opportunity to work with my colleagues and I am really happy to be a part of such a renowned company as Big Brother. I suppose that if I were a sales manager, it would be much more useful for both me and the business. First of all, last month I completed a course in negotiations at Highline College, which helped me to improve my communicative skills (3). Second of all, I have been working as a product manager for the past 12 years and so would be well placed to promote our merchandise because I know the products like the back of my hand (4). This transition may enhance my involvement in the business process and increase the income of the company through a boost in sales (5). I hope you will consider my proposal. Yours sincerely, Kseniia T.
(1) You can request something, or request that somebody or something does something or has something done to them, but you can’t request about something. (2) “Perspective” doesn’t make sense here. Can you rephrase it? (3) Communication skills is often used. (4) I.e. very well. (5) You could just say “... process and boost the company’s sales.” Great 🙂
