[SPC Group's Ahn Joong-min to win Best Sommelier of Korea Competition 2020] SPC Group announced yesterday that Ahn Joong-min (34) had won the Best Sommelier of Korea Competition 2020, which was held in Daejeon, South Korea, on Oct. 18. Ahn Joong-min is a sommelier at Paris Croissant, a bakery arm of SPC Group. The competition was held by the Korea International Sommelier Association (KISA), and 9 top-ranking Korean sommeliers from 2018 to 2020 participated. Panels at the competition evaluated the participants' service skills in foreign languages such as French and English and wine tasting skills, in accordance with rules by the Association de la Sommellerie Internationale (ASI).  By winning this competition, Ahn is qualified to represent Korea for the Best Sommelier of Asia-Oceania Competition 2021 that will be held in Melbourne, Australia. Ahn went to school in Burgundy, France, to study wine and is currently in the position of head sommelier at the catering business department of Paris Croissant. SPC Group is an operator of the popular Korean bakery chain, Paris Baguette.
