Scary indeed 🙂. I just have a few minor changes to suggest:
I chose this exercise
Hung out with friends
Talked for a really long time
Sat for a long time
We chatted with
Had to go back home
(I didn’t quite understand the bit after “the other had to go back home”)
We visited the city centre a bit

Bravo, you have really good English! I would guess that you've spoken it for a long time. If I had to add a small correction it would be that at the end you said something like ''We didn't know it that much'' when it would be better to say ''...that well''.
