what's the difference between "live"(functions as adjective) and alive? thanks!

live + a noun it means living, not dead he feeds the snake live rats. also a live match( not recorded) , a live television programme which is broadcast at the same time it happens or is performed a live ( no noun) means living, not dead they didn't expect to find anyone alive after the explosion
