"dimwitted candidates with lantern jaws and windproof hairdos" We could go on for hours about the ways fear can hinder cognition- it makes us form harebrained superstitions; it makes us see patterns where none exist (see stock market, the); it makes us buy into fear mongering political ads, causing us to vote for dimwitted candidates with lantern jaws and windproof hairdos. Suffice it to say that the more fear you feel, the more difficult it is to think rationally, creatively, flexibly, unhurriedly, or realistically. But thinking well under fire is far from impossible. Dear Americans, Does this "dimwitted candidates with lantern jaws and windproof hairdos" remind of any specific politician? Maybe a republican.
