Is there any phrase about it in English? You wish for something so hard, but you can't have it because of something. Example; you make a plan to go a picnic with your friends at the weekend, then it rains, so you can't go. we say "My enthusiasm is in my throat." What do you say in this situation? Is there any phrase about it in English?

you can use for what you were asking in general.... "The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak." However in your example, you can use many single words to describe it. Eliot has one. Here are some, Drats! Fuck! Shit! Geez! Jesus Christ!

- "My joy in a hole" - "My hopes were dashed!" - "Just my luck" - "It took a turn for the worse" -"It all went to pot" -"It all went to hell" - "It all went to hell in a handbasket"
