No , not necessarily. She could have been just in a bad mood just like Eliot is in today. XD

It's more like "She's ill tempered and irritable today." If she is depressed, the phrase would be "She's having a down/grey day."

"black mood" = any mood peculiar to a woman It refers to THAT mood that women spontaneously have, but us men never know why.
