Paraphernalia refers to a group of items or equipment that either belong to a certain person (or a group of people) or are necessary for a certain task. If a woman is carrying her makeup kit, with all its various items, she would be taking her paraphernalia for grooming. A set of tools and equipment that an electrician carries for his job would be his paraphernalia.

Items. That simple. In this case, paraphernalia is items of a culture. This word, in the USA is most commonly used in the term drug paraphernalia. This is items dealing with drugs. But outside of this, it is just "stuff."
