A Story Written by Emoticons
Here's an oral presentation of a rather endearing story written with emoticons
Unfortunately, I am missing part of it. Could someone explain the following passage to me?
"He tells her, "I'd like to hand-paint your portrait on a coffee mug."
Put a crab inside it. Add some water. Seven different salts. He means he's got this sudden notion to stand on dry land, but just panhandle at the ocean. He says, "You look like a mermaid, but you walk like a waltz."
I'm missing the dry land and ocean reference. Does it mean he wanted to stay safe but then just couln't but start to try and impress the girl (that would be ocean waves, somehow metaphorically)? Or does it relate to the crab and 7 salts in the mug?
Thanks:)The correct URL is http://www.ted.com/talks/rives_tells_a_story_of_mixed_emoticons.html
