A Story Written by Emoticons Hi, Here's an oral presentation of a rather endearing story written with emoticons http://www.ted.com/talks/rives_tells_a_story_of_mixed_emoticons Unfortunately, I am missing part of it. Could someone explain the following passage to me? "He tells her, "I'd like to hand-paint your portrait on a coffee mug." Put a crab inside it. Add some water. Seven different salts. He means he's got this sudden notion to stand on dry land, but just panhandle at the ocean. He says, "You look like a mermaid, but you walk like a waltz." I'm missing the dry land and ocean reference. Does it mean he wanted to stay safe but then just couln't but start to try and impress the girl (that would be ocean waves, somehow metaphorically)? Or does it relate to the crab and 7 salts in the mug? Thanks:)The correct URL is http://www.ted.com/talks/rives_tells_a_story_of_mixed_emoticons.html

1. The page is not there. 2. Your question does not clarify what the message is nor the meaning. "You look like a mermaid, but you walk like a waltz." This is what he wanted to say. "I'd like to hand-paint your portrait on a coffee mug." This is what he actually said. There is no reference. The guy is weak and nervous and loses it in front of a beautiful woman. The story is making fun of this kind of thing
