"I just felt ashamed." and "I just felt embarrassed." same meaning? Those who get to the information first are always one step ahead.

The expressions have common ground, but some difference exists. To feel ashamed means someone has done an action that is morally wrong. It is a strong statement. The feeling of embarrassment, on the other hand, could be caused by a wide latitude of circumstances. For example, maybe the boss praised an employee in a meeting. Maybe that employee would feel embarrassed.
