Translate it to a statement or a question, and the difference is clear. I was shown the letter. Were you shown the letter? - I remember being shown the letter. I have been shown the letter. Have you been shown the letter? - I remember having been shown the letter.

Yes both meanings are the same. Although you will probably hear, "I remember being shown the letter.", more often.
