If something is worthwhile, it means your time and money are not being wasted. For example, studying another language is a worthwhile investment.

It means it is worthy of your time, money, or whatever. Think of it as "worth your while". Examples: *Contact lenses are a worthwhile purchase. They will really enhance your quality of life. *Savings bonds are a worthwhile investment. There is little risk involved. *Rayman is a worthwhile video game. It is fun and educational.
