Who is 'them' in the sentence? Hello, Who is 'them' in the sentence “If you just leave it to them, a lot can go wrong. They can't be bothered, other things come up.”? What does "They can't be bothered, other things come up." mean in this context? “Get to numbers. Tell him you're going to call his distributor right there and place the order. Use your phone, pass it to the manager. If you just leave it to them, a lot can go wrong. They can't be bothered, other things come up. Sam, if you can get in here, it would be a real achievement.”

'Them' in this case refers to the people working under the manager. People who take orders over the phone are usually overworked and underpaid. The people working under the manager - those that would usually handle this business, might not give it the attention it needs because of the conditions they work under and the attitude they have.
