Hold down/up shiftwork How to say it? If you do a shiftwork. Do you ' hold ' a shift ' up ' or ' down ' ? Thanks.

If you work in a job that involves shifts, then you can say: You do shiftwork Which is more or less the same as saying: You hold down a shift-working job to 'hold up' something is to temporarily stop or hinder something, unless you 'hold up' a bank, which is when you commit a robbery.
